The powers of Council are defined in the Charter and Council is ultimately responsible for ensuring that ICAEW meets the objects set out in the Charter. ICAEW BoardThe board is responsible to council for planning and managing the affairs and business of ICAEW. It does this in accordance with objectives, polices and budgets approved by the council. It is also responsible for resource management and coordinates the work of departments and committees.
ICAEW Regulatory BoardThe ICAEW Regulatory Board (IRB) is an independent board that is responsible for the statutory role of ICAEW and for ensuring ICAEW’s regulatory and disciplinary work, undertaken by the Professional Standards Department (PSD), is carried out in the public interest. It provides assurance to government, oversight regulators, and members of the public that these tasks are carried out independently and objectively.
